Beaches, walking and more

As well as an extensive range of adventure and sporting activities, Mountain Landing offers superb opportunities to enjoy the beaches, stunning coastal views and other beautiful surroundings at a more leisurely pace.

Top-end luxury spa facilities and restaurants are available close by at Paihia and Kauri Cliffs. A wide range of Northland family attractions are also within an hour’s helicopter flight, including kiwi-spotting night walks, glow-worm caves and the ancient kauri forests at Hokianga.

Between November and April, whale watching and swimming with dolphins from nearby Paihia and Russell are also popular day trips.

Beaches

The six private beaches on the Mountain Landing property can be accessed for safe boating and swimming at all tides. There are a number of landscaped beachside areas, including the Village Green at Te Puna, that are ideal for picnics and ball games.

Hundreds of other spectacular beaches are also within easy reach of Mountain Landing, from quiet, secluded white-sand bays accessible by boat to wild west coast surf beaches a short helicopter flight away.

Walking and mountain biking

Mountain Landing is crossed with a network of walking and mountain biking trails leading through native bush reserves, wetland areas, farm paddocks and along the coast.

These are an excellent way to explore the property, taking in magnificent views and many sites of natural and heritage interest. One trail leads to the historic Marsden Cross, site of the first Christian service to be held in New Zealand.

Sports

There is a half-basketball court at The Boathouse for informal games and practice sessions. A pair of tennis courts, together with a gym and sports pavilion, are also planned for the area behind the Village Green.
