The Boathouse
Set in an inviting landscaped space on the water’s edge at Wairoa Bay, The Boathouse is designed to become the social heart of the Mountain Landing community. It is the greeting place for visitors arriving by boat and will be the focus for many of the community’s activities.
At present The Boathouse is let as private accommodation as one of The Residences at Mountain Landing. As the population of Mountain Landing grows, it will eventually become the hospitality hub for the community as a whole.
Residents will be able to gather here on summer evenings for drinks or share a relaxed meal prepared in front of them by a personal chef. The emphasis will be on fresh seasonal local produce, matched with fine New Zealand wines. The atmosphere will be both informal and sophisticated; relaxed, open and authentically New Zealand.
The Boathouse’s extensive indoor-outdoor entertainment area includes a barbecue, a woodfired pizza oven and outdoor fireplaces. Close by are the boat ramp, jetty, smokehouse and basketball court. Read more about staying at The Boathouse
The Boathouse architecture
The Boathouse is a striking, airy structure based on the design of a colonial woolshed that used to stand on the property. Designed by leading New Zealand architect Pip Cheshire, it has been given an elegant modern interpretation in natural wood and stone.
The Boathouse reflects a contemporary New Zealand aesthetic in its use of natural materials and design that is both innovative and functional. Its understated style sets the tone for other buildings at Mountain Landing.
Changing with the community
The operation of The Boathouse will evolve over time to meet the needs of the expanding Mountain Landing community. From here our hospitality team will deliver resident services for owners and guests, including drinks, dining and entertainment options. It will also be available as a venue for residents’ private functions.
Designs have been developed so that as demand builds, it can be expanded and modified as required.
