Kauri Cliffs, one of the world’s greatest golf courses, is just 40 minutes by car or five minutes by helicopter from Mountain Landing.
Kauri Cliffs is considered a worthy rival to California’s Pebble Beach for its challenging course and magnificent setting. The par 72 course has 15 holes with ocean views, six of which are played along the cliff top. Top New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell, who won the US Open in 2005, is based at Kauri Cliffs.
Many other fine golf courses also located in the region, including the famous course at Waitangi and the PGA tournament-quality Carrington course on the Karikari Peninsula.
