Master plan

Mountain Landing is a long-term master-planned development founded on the principles of balance and respect for the land and its history. It is designed to both realise the potential of the land and to preserve its special ecological and historical character. The development and its community will continue to evolve over the coming years as a new generation comes to call this special place home.

Use of the land

There will be just 46 residential sites of between one and 12 acres on the property, each with its own certificate of title. These will be released in stages, with 14 sites presently for sale.

Owners will have open access to the balance of the entire 1000-acre property, including native bush reserves, wetlands and bird sanctuary areas, farmland and secluded beaches. All coastline frontage is retained in farm ownership, giving owners equal access to the six sandy beaches.

Infrastructure

All major infrastructure for the property is now in place, including roads, utilities, walking paths, gateways and jetty. Open recreational areas, including low-lying ‘village green’ spaces on the foreshore, have been landscaped in harmony with the natural landfall.

Heritage and ecosystem

The restoration of the land is allowing bush and wetland areas to return to a natural state, with linked native green belts wrapping around rolling pastureland. Coastal areas remain relatively untouched and natural.

An extensive replanting and native bush regeneration program is well underway. Wetlands have been restored and bird sanctuary areas developed to encourage the return of native wildlife. There is now a thriving population of endangered kiwi on the property.

More than 350 acres of heritage and ecological preserves will be held in a charitable trust in perpetuity, ensuring their safekeeping for future generations.

Farming

The rich soil at Mountain Landing has been part of a farming tradition for the past 150 years. All home sites are integrated within a working sheep farm that is currently home to around 2000 sheep and lambs.
